It’s 2015! When did that happen?
We have been busy bee’s lately. It’s a new year and we are now in a new state. Good ol’ North Carolina. I don’t know much about North Carolina, but so far I can tell you it’s beautiful, warmish, and full of trees. Exploring is in order to add more knowledge to my list. But let me tell you, there’s nothing like moving half way across the country let alone in the dead of winter. Luckily though we are starting to settle in which calls for kicking new projects into gear.
DIY projects are my favorite because you get to be crafty while saving money. It’s a win win. For the first DIY project of the year: Throw Pillows!
Throw pillows are simple to make and usually pretty inexpensive. This is especially true if you are only making covers for old throw pillows . They are a great way to add a little bit of character to a room in your home. You can find easy tutorials for sewing pillows anywhere online. Here are a couple of options one and two. Finding the right textiles though can be difficult. But guess what! You’re in luck! While I was browsing for new additions to my own home I found these beautiful hand made fabrics from designers all over the country. Check them out here.
Keep in mind when you’re mixing patterns to think about the design, color, weight, intensity, and scale of the fabric. Below are some of my favorite mixed prints.
