Two toned black and brown riding boots have been around for a while... and they're still in style!  It's an easy go to boot for Fall and what's great about fashion is eventually it will catch on to all walks of life.  I do admit I love the quilted look on the new cole haan riding boots, but you can still get great details and styling in any pair.  Best bang for your buck?  I'd go with the Bandolino's from DSW... only $100!

Beauty Essentials

I admit it I think I am a beauty connoisseur, or at least I try to be.  I love makeup, and for the most part I wear some type of makeup every day.  Whether it be a tinted moisturizer, or just mascara.  I like to try new types of makeup and experiment every once in a while. But for my everyday makeup routine, here are my favorite beauty products.

All skin is different but for me I have oily somewhat acne prone skin which luckily has cleared up from my teenage years, but I still get the occasional break out.  To start, I wash my face and use a non oily face moisturizer.  Before applying any makeup to my face I use a face primer.  I have not found a huge difference in more expensive face primers from cheaper ones.  Right now I am using NYX face primer.  When I don't want a lot of coverage on a typical day I will just wear my Nars tinted moisturizer (2.) and my Laura Mercier concealer (10.). To apply, I personally like to use makeup brushes.

Unfortunately for me, I used to love tanning as a teenager and in college.  So I have a lot of discoloration and freckles on my face from years in the tanning bed.  If I could go back that is something I would definitely tell my younger self to stay out of the sun!  I do still like a sun kissed glow to my medium skin tone every once in a while, but instead I use self tanner to get the same result.  My favorite is Tarte which comes in both wipes and a bottle. Wearing my tinted moisturizer, or a light BB cream on my face will usually correct my discoloration but I don't mind having more full coverage so I will apply powdered foundation as well.  I love my Lorac baked porefection powder (3.).  It's light enough on my face that I don't feel like I'm wearing a lot of makeup but heavy enough to give me the perfect amount of coverage I need.  I usually like more of a bronze glow on my cheeks.  I will sometimes wear a light pink blush, but my favorite bronzer is this Two Faced chocolate soleil matte bronzer (6.).  It smells like chocolate too!

For my eyes, first I use this Two Faced eye primer (4.).  It gives your shadow a much better look.  No creasing, or fading.  The end result looks great!  There are so many great shadows out there.  Since I have dark hair and dark eyes I stick close to brown palettes.  My go to is this palette.  For eyeliner, I love a dark black line.  This Rimmel London pencil (7.) is my favorite hands down, and the eye primer makes the line not smudge.  I also use this calvin klein liquid eyeliner if i want a thinner line or if I'm making a cat eye.  For my eyebrows, I use this anastasia brow powder(1.).  I'm obsessed.  This little compact will last a very long time because a little goes a long way.  I add mascara last.  I have used a variety of mascaras.  For me, it's more about the wand.  I also like a jet black color.  Here's a tip a friend told me:  Add a few drops of contact solution to a mascara tube if it starts to dry out or get clumpy.  It will thin the mascara, and you will get more use out of it.

Lastly for my lips I use this melted lip stain (8.).  It's close to my natural lip color which I like for an everyday look.  I usually prefer lip stain or matte lip stick rather than gloss.  Not as messy!  To help with my oily skin I use this urban decay makeup setting spray (9.) which is one of my favorite things!  After putting on all of my makeup I give myself a few sprays and I'm good to go!  It makes your makeup last all day, and if you use the oil control spray that Urban Decay also makes it helps oil prone skin like mine stay fresh and not greasy.  Another way to set your makeup is to use this invisible powder (5.) from two faced which also gives you a little extra glow.

I'm always looking for suggestions on new beauty secrets.  What are your favorite beauty products and makeup tips?

It feels like fall! I've been traveling north these past couple days to spend time with family and friends, and to meet up with my husband for his business trip. Can't say I was sad to leave Texas for the midwest where changing leaves, and crisp cool air is in full swing. And now, I can finally pull out one of my favorite fall pieces... the flannel shirt! Who doesn't love flannel?   It's like the chambray shirt where you can wear it with pretty much anything. Jeans, skirts, leggings... the style options are endless! I love to wear just the flannel shirt, or layer it over a t-shirt paired with jeans.  Add more layers over the flannel with a vest or your favorite jacket.  For this look with the boyfriend jeans, I love the strappy heels, but for a more casual feel I'd pair it with loafers or booties like the ones below.

Flannel is such an easy piece to incorporate into any wardrobe no matter your style!  How do you guys love to wear your flannel shirt?
I've seen so many people posting pictures of pumpkins I was inspired to collage something orange.  Found this Stella McCartney mini dress that coincidentally was named the color pumpkin... must be fate!  The Two Faced melted lip stain I personally own and am obsessed with.  It's slightly darker than my natural lip shade, but adds just the right amount of color I'm looking for with this dress.  If it's too dark for you I'd go with just a clear gloss.  And look at this Alexander Mcqueen double breasted coat.  The pleating makes it so feminine and girly.  Love love love it!!

Work 9-5 Chic

Wearing the same boring outfit to work gets! It's easy to get in a routine of throwing on whatever's clean after working a 40-60 hour work week. I don't know about you, but picking a wrinkled pair of pants off the floor, and throwing my hair up in a messy bun to make sure I get out the door on time, doesn’t make me feel my best. No matter your position, I was always told to dress for the job you want not the job you have.  What better way to show you want to be the boss then dressing the part.

You don't have to wear designer threads to look good, but picking items that have a higher quality will last longer.  For staple items in your wardrobe try to invest in better-constructed pieces as you will wear them for a longer period of time.  Premium denim can cost anywhere from $150-300!  But it's worth the investment for an everyday jean that won't fall apart easily especially if you work in a business casual environment where you can dress up a pair of jeans with your favorite blouse.  I still wear a pair of skinny premium jeans that I bought five years ago.

Whereas for fashion items, like the retro flare jean trend you're not sure you want to jump on the band wagon for, thrift a pair or find a less expensive style if you want to give the trend a try.  No reason to shell out hundreds of dollars on something you’ll only wear once, and will soon move to the back of your closet as the new craze comes along.

I love fashion because its fun, and subjective! As long as you love what you're wearing it will show, and best of all make you feel great inside and out.  It's easy to not care to get ready for the day when you're just trying to make it to 5 o'clock.  So why not start off the day by adding a bit of excitement and be the fashionista that you are & style an outfit for yourself like a boss!  Here's my work chic style inspiration below.

Walks with Bronx

How cute is he? Meet Bronx our 2 year old rottweiler-beagle-hound that we rescued from the Humane Society as a little puppy. He is the sweetest dog; always all smiles! One of my favorite parts of the day is Bronx and my daily walk downtown, or if we're feeling more adventurous, hikes in various parks and nature preserves.  He is still a ball full of energy even two years later. Luckily we have a dog park next to our apartment complex where he gets lots of play time with other dogs, but we still like getting at least one half hour to an hour walk every day.  It also counts towards my exercising for the day if I can't get to the gym.  And honestly I'm not a huge gym fan unless I'm taking some type of class.  Here are some of our essentials for our daily walks including treats for Bronx, and his favorite frisbee when we find some open fields to play.
While the rest of the country is enjoying the beautiful Fall weather good ol' Texas is still in summer mode.  I'm hopeful though that my favorite season will be coming soon... with the 10 degree drop from yesterday, we are now sitting in the low 80's!  Womp womp. Missing the changing colors of the midwest right about now.  This look may be a little cooler for the non south, so changing up the length of the romper would be a good idea, but for the look of the day here's styling a romper from day to night.

Day: Keep the romper casual by layering with a light jacket.  Loving the blown up print on this bomber jacket, and what a steal only $30 bucks!  While I'm on the go I like to wear sneakers, but you could always mix it up with your favorite ankle biker boot, or loafer which are all perfect for Fall.  A nude lip gloss, and you're ready for the day!

Night: To add more structure to my night time look, I paired the romper with this fitted white blazer.  An oversized blazer would look great with this as well but make sure you don't go too long on the length if you're keeping the romper short.  With a dark lip, and a closed toe sandal you are ready to hit the town.

Pops of Metallic

Hi guys! It's my first blog post!  I'm so excited to start blogging and to share my style inspirations with you.  It could be anything from fashion, beauty, home decor, or even a little bit of healthy living as my husband and I start our sugar free life style (two weeks in and counting!).  Bear with me as I try to figure out the world of blogging since I am new to this. Now to the post below...

Whether it be date night or a casual day of shopping I love adding pops of metallic to any outfit.  Go bolder with a statement necklace like the one below from Bauble Bar or switch it up with something dainty like a long chained pendent.  When my outfit is super neutral like the one below I like to add a pop of color on my nails.  I'm a pink girl so I went with the soft pink shade "Pink-ing of You" from OPI, but if you're feel more daring try a bright neon yellow to add some edge.
